ATTENTION, Golf Travel Writers of America members:
Welcome to our 20th season. We have 27 paid members as of February 13, and 14 are new members. That’s encouraging, given that creating a new bank account was a lengthy process.
We have that problem solved now, however, which should streamline the recruitment process. Several have still not paid the $25 year’s membership fee and others have not filled out personal information necessary for publication on our website, www.golftravelwriters.com. This information needs to be current. We’ve found that many existing members need to update their contact information. Check the site to make sure yours is up to date.
To catch up on payment, mail checks to treasurer Joy Sarver, made out to GTWA or Golf Travel Writers of America, at 10081 SW 92nd St Road, Ocala, FL 34481. Payment can also be made via Zelle. Most all banks offer this service, and it does not require you to download an app. You need to provide Joy’s email address (joysarver@gmail.com) and the name of our organization (Golf Travel Writers of America) to navigate the Zelle process.
Dan Vukelich handles the website matters. Forms for the personal information are available on the site. Dan’s email is dvukelich@comcast.net if you need more information.
We expect all payments and information forms to be completed by April 1. That’s a week before Masters Week tees off.
We were happy to get our first outing on the books at Heathrow Legacy club in Orlando after the PGA Merchandise Show. We are also most appreciative of the efforts put in by Michael Abramowitz of Concert Golf Partners in making it happen.
It’s very important that each of our members gets his travel pieces to Dan, for use in our website, and not just published on your personal sites and social media outlets. It’s also most important that your posts are also sent to our host destinations. That’s why we are there.
Looking ahead, we need volunteers. Among the needs are someone to take over the GTWA Facebook page and a point person in seeking out destinations for group visits. We all need to work together to make GTWA as successful and valuable as it can be. We also welcome ideas, suggestions, etc., from all members in an effort to make us better. Don’t be reluctant to speak up. My cell is 312-320-3461 and email is lenziehm@gmail.com.
Len Ziehm, GTWA president.
